FAQs
Why should I buy a Personal Computer (PC) over a gaming console?
On average, a PC is better then a console for a few reasons:
More customizable and personalized.
Better performance. Typically, a PC will put out much higher graphics at a much higher Frames Per Second (FPS) making for better game play.
Versatility. Not only can you game on a PC, you can do work, school, watch videos, stream, edit, all while having multiple monitors hocked up at once if you choose.
Future proofing. On average, a console will be considered good for about 2-5 years, then you need to buy a new console due to it being outdated and programs no longer being supported. Whereas with a PC, all you would nee to do is upgrade parts. Not only is this better for your wallet, it is also better for the environment; By doing this, there is much less E-waste being thrown out year after year.
Why should I pay to have someone build me a PC instead of buying a pre-built?
There are many reason why having a PC built for you is better then buying a pre-built:
Personalization. If you get a PC built for you, not only is it exactly what you want, it will stand out and be unique.
Service. You will be provided with a warranty and service you might not get otherwise. If something goes wrong, I will not hesitate to do everything I can to fix it for you.
Price. Since your PC is built by yours truly in house, I am able to offer lower prices then big Corporations. Also, when you buy a PC from me, you are helping out a small, local business.
Quality. If you were to buy a pre-built PC (which is presumably mass produced), there is likely less quality control. Meaning there is a greater chance of things going wrong. Whereas when you buy a PC from me, I will always take my time to ensure everything is as it should be and even benchmark and test the PC.
Performance. When a PC is mass produced, they are made as quick and cheap as possible. Meaning you might be paying a less for a pre-built, however, you will most likely be getting a lower quality build.
Why should I pay someone to build a PC when I can do it myself?
Experience/knowledge. I have many years of experience building PCS under my belt.
Warranty and service. If you were to build a PC yourself and something is to go wrong, you would likely have to pay someone more money to fix it, rather then simply having them build it in the first place. If I were to build a PC and something went wrong, I would take as much time as needed to diagnose and fix the problem (broken hardware will not be covered by Brody’s PC Builds).
Time. Building a PC can be very time consuming especially if you are a first time builder or you lack experience in this trade. Why would you want to waste your personal time when you can pay to have a professional do it for you and rest in the knowledge that it’s done right the first time.
Should I purchase a PC for my child or allow him/her to purchase one?)
In my opinion, yes you definitely should allow them to purchase a PC or better yet, gift them with one! I recommend you start them off small with a $300 - $600 PC build. If your kid wants a PC, you raised them right. Not only are they very smart for wanting a PC over a console like many of their peers, by giving them a PC, you are effectively giving them another tool to add their arsenal. Not only will they learn the life-long skills of team building, reaction time, communication skills, and problem solving skills, they can use that PC for video editing, website/game development, coding, streaming, online marketing, etc.
I think you are much better off to get your child a PC because investing in a PC is investing in their future. Unlike a console, the PC can grow with them. In doing so, they will learn the basics of PC building and software skills that are instrumental in the new generation of workers.
I recommend a PC for everyone starting at around age 10-15 (with parental limits). In letting your kid have a PC, you can also make it a bonding experience by playing games with them and working with them to upgrade the PC over the years. I can speak from experience, I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for my parents allowing me to buy a PC and upgrade it. As you can see, I have learned so much from this opportunity! For example, I would never have been able to design this website, learn to use Computer Nematic Code (CNC) machinery, learn how to 3D print, and even learn how to build PCS if it wasn’t for their love and support in everything including my endeavor with PC gaming!
